MID-CAROLINA CAMELLIA SOCIETY 2018 / 2019
The Mid-Carolina Camellia Society is a local society, affiliated with the American Camellia Society, whose members usually meet on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. from August through April (no meeting in December). Monthly meetings typically feature a program or guest speaker. Currently our club meets at Lizard's Thicket (unless otherwise indicated) at 402 Beltline Blvd., Columbia , S.C. Annual dues are $10 for individuals and $20 for families. In addition to monthly meetings, membership includes club projects including our two annual judged camellia shows, plant auction/ summer picnic.
The Mid-Carolina Camellia Society Fall Show normally is held on the last Friday of the South Carolina State Fair in October of each year. Exhibitors receive free entry to the Fair and may enter blooms the day of the show from 07:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. There is no entry fee and club members will be on hand to assist newcomers with entry procedures.
The Winter Show is normally held on the second Saturday in February at the Lourie Center, 1650 Park Cir, Columbia, SC 29201. Blooms are entered from 7:30 AM to 10:30 AM and there is no entry fee and club members will be on hand to assist newcomers.
If you are interested in bringing and entering flowers to be judged at this show, you may obtain a show schedule with rules for bloom entry by contacting johnrobertsmaker@yahoo.com(Society President). Gardeners wishing to determine their unknown varieties of camellias are encouraged to bring them for identification. Properly identified blooms are eligible for entry in both shows, if entered by entry deadline. We hope to see you there!
